Loss of flexibility is a key factor in the origin of many neuro-musculo-skeletal disorders, especially in older populations. Most often, these losses are insidious and compounded by injuries, sedentary lifestyles, and other factors internal as well external.

Combining bodywork with appropriate stretching has the potential to enhance client results while speeding up recovery time, both of which bolster our efficacy as massage therapists. A further benefit is many of the stretches you will learn can be adapted into active versions for client empowerment.

During this 4 hour course we will:

  • Reinforce muscle anatomy through functional applications.
  • Provide safe applications of guided upper body stretches based on client indication.
  • Incorporate proper body mechanics for effectiveness during each passive stretch.
  • Review potential contraindications related to assisted stretching.

The main goal of this course is to assure you can safely guide clients through assisted stretching, while applying anatomical knowledge throughout. If you are looking to add some variety to your massage sessions, this class is for you!
